El Salvador: Calendar for sale

This January my wife and I are joining a group headed to El Salvador with Habitat for Humanity, we will help build 2 houses. This is a costly endeavor so we are trying to raise some funds to help off set costs.

I have put together a calendar of photos I have taken which I am selling for $20 each. The photos included in this calendar can be seen below. All proceeds will go to supporting our trip and build.

of course donations are always welcome and tax deductible. Donations can be entered online here: http://www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=21056 .  If you are interested in either of these or have any further questions please contact me: timhaan565 at homail.com

Out and About

The past few days I have been trying to make the best of what remains of fall. This is what I have come up with:

Sunday 7 October 2012

Great Gray Rainy Day

Last weekend (Oct 1) we decided to head up to Algonquin in the afternoon. The weather didn't look to good but I really wanted to see some of the fall colours as all the reports said they were at their peak. We left late in the day so we didn't get there till well into the afternoon. By this time the weather had gotten worse not better and we were starting to second guess the whole trip. Though the fall colours were amazing, it was cold a rainy and we didn't really want to get out of the car. We kept saying we would turn around in 5 mins or around the next corner. But we never did. Good thing to because around the next corner there was a group of cars stopped that made the whole trip worthwhile.

This Great Gray Owl just sat and watched as the crazy amount of cars and people started to line the highway beside him.

We watched this owl for about and hour, and once we had our fill we decided to continue going further down the road. Usually once I have seen one great wildlife species I usually get greedy and assume I will see more if I keep going. But that didn't happen. The next stop was Ragged Falls Provincial Park where the fall colours were unbelievable.

All in all well worth the drive!

Norwood Fair Entry

This weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving) is the Norwood Fair. I usually enter a number of photos into the photography classes. This year I entered 8 photos here they are:

Barns

Close Up: Newt

Spider webs

Travel: Ferryland NFLD

Water in Motion: Ragged Falls

Photographers Choice : Snowy Owl

Wildlife: Purple Finch
Over the past few years the photography competition at the Norwood Fair has really grown. This year I was able to win first place in the travel category.
