My wife and I recently returned from our trip to El Salvador, this trip was a Habitat for Humanity Global village project where we help with the beginning stages of building a house. We raised money for this trip selling calendars (thank you to all who bought one!!). El Salvador is an amazing country, very different than Canada, and the cold weather when we got back home has taken some getting used to. We were in El Salvador for 10 days and made some great friends there, everyone was very welcoming. As the trip was mainly focused on building a house, I didn't get a whole lot of time to take photos, but where there's a will there's a way. This set of photos are some of my favorite people/place photos from the trip.

Winter Wonderland
For the past week we have finally been getting some decent winter
weather. I have tried to make the best of it but haven't had a whole lot
of luck with birds. This is what I have been able to get so far:

Screech in the Park
I went looking for birds in the snow today, there wasn't a whole lot of
activity but the ones I did find were very co-operative. There was even a
screech owl that seemed to be using a bird feeder as shelter from the
snow, the chickadees were not impressed.

Northern Hawk Owl in Peterborough
There has been a Hawk Owl in Peterborough for several days now so I went
to check it out. It was very actively hunting along the trail and often
flew above observers. These are the photos I got.

First Snow
It hasn't really snowed all that much around where I live yet this year, but this past weekend I headed north and it wasn't long till I found some snow. Usually I am after birds but on Saturday there weren't many around so decided to have some fun with the landscapes. Thanks for looking!

On the hunt for a Barred Owl
There have been many barred owls seen lately near lake Ontario, so I
thought I would go have a look. I didn't think it would work out for me
but I did manage to find a mixed flock of redpols and tree sparrows down in Newcastle area, and at the end of the day a Barred Owl was sitting in a tree on the side of the road waiting for me...
